Looks like Arsenal have settled on Allegri as Wenger replacement

You can understand why he would want to take the job

He’s won four consecutive doubles at Juventus.

Replacing Arsène Wenger will not be easy. He’s shaped Arsenal for the last 22 years. Regardless of who comes in, it will be a tough job to make a smooth transition, as we saw when Manchester United replaced Sir Alex Ferguson with David Moyes.

Arsenal may have gotten their hands on the best possible candidate to ensure it’s as smooth as it possibly can be, however.

The Times are reporting that Arsenal have held talks with Max Allegri’s representatives about staff and transfer budgets and are increasingly confident of replacing Wenger with the Italian.

It’s a move that could offer Allegri the new challenge that he’s seeking too, given he has won four consecutive doubles (barring disaster in Serie A). He fell at the last hurdle in the Champions League, losing to Barcelona and Real Madrid in the 2015 and 2017 finals respectively, and it seems like he will not win the trophy at Juve. That leaves him with very little more to achieve in Turin, and it seems like the right time to embark on a new adventure.

Arsenal will give him the opportunity to build a team and lift the club back up to where they believe they belong. While Arsenal are not currently at Juve’s level, it’s clear why he might be interested in the job to get them there.
