Liverpool’s hopes of landing top transfer target has suffered a serious blow

They're not willing to pay that much

Liverpool’s pursuit of transfer target Mohamed Salah has taken a serious blow.

The Liverpool Echo are reporting that Roma has priced the talented winger somewhere in excess of £35m which may be more than what the club are willing to pay for Salah.

Liverpool held talks with Roma last week according to the newspaper but a deal could not be struck with Roma seemingly not budging on the transfer fee.

Jürgen Klopp is looking to improve his attacking options as his side return to the Champions League next season.

Klopp has a strong record in the tournament having guided Borussia Dortmund to the 2013 final where they lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich.

Liverpool, however, has not had the same level of success as of late having last played in the tournament in the 2014-2015 season where they were knocked out at the group stages.

If the signing is to materialise, Mohamed Salah would be familiar with English football.

He joined Chelsea in 2014 where he stayed for two years but only made a handful of appearances.

Salah went on loan to Fiorentina followed by Roma where he then made the move permanent last summer for a fee of €15m.
