Liverpool’s third kit is not half as toxic looking as we were led to believe

Kevin McGillicuddy

This is not actually as bad as we were expecting.

Liverpool fans reacted in horror a few months back when rumours of the club’s third kit for the 2016/17 season began to surface.

The biggest trend that emerged from the discussion seemed to be the colour of the jersey, and what some thought looked like a top that crawled out of sector 7G of the Springfield nuclear power plant.

Heck, even we called it an eyesore.

Toxic green is not a good look for any jersey, but thankfully it seems as if the final version of the jersey due to be released shortly is much less day glow green that we had originally feared.

The fine folk at Footy Headlines, who are always fairly close to the mark, have teased Liverpool fans with third kit option for next season, and while it’s no nightshade or lacks any exploding rhombus, it’s actually a decent kit.

The bright green hinted at in the early incarnation is only found on the sponsor, logo, crest and accents across the shoulders and sleeves, while the overall colour of the jersey is a dark green.

The shorts and socks are likely to be on the same lines, and it all reminds us rather too much of some dodgy Liverpool kits of the 1990s.
