The last man to hold the Liverpool number 11 jersey was not exactly a resounding success.
He was one of Brendan Rodgers first signings, but was quickly shipped out of the club after a season and a bit, first to Stoke on loan and then to Al Ahli.
So Roberto Firmino will be hoping for a little bit more luck in the shirt than his predecessor after today’s announcement of the new numbers that Liverpool’s summer signings will be wearing next campaign.
The Brazilian will be wearing the the No.11 jersey that has has been worn previously by Robbie Fowler and Jamie Redknapp, and also less illustriously by Albert Riera and Mark Gonzalez.
Nathaniel Clyne looks set to become the club’s main right back as he has been handed the No.2 jersey worn for the last number of years by Glen Johnson, while Joe Gomez will sport No.12 and Adam Bogdan is the club’s new No.34.
Earlier this summer it was  confirmed that James Milner will wear the iconic No.7 and Danny Ings has taken the odd number of No.28 for his debut season in red.
His fellow strike partner Divock Origi will wear No. 27.
