Sure what else would he be doing of a Sunday afternoon?
Liverpool v Manchester United is a pretty hostile atmosphere truth be told, so let’s hope the Reds’ special guest this Sunday brings his earphones. Anfield will host Brazilian football legend Pele who will take in the latest instalment in probably the fiercest football rivalry in the Premier League.
Louis van Gaal’s side are just above Liverpool in the race for a Champions League spot but a win for Brendan Rodgers side would see them leapfrog their neighbours.
Pele may also get a chance to see two of his countrymen in action with Philippe Coutinho sure to start for the home side, while Rafael may also feature for Van Gaal’s side.
The legendary No10 has been on Merseyside before, but won’t have happy memories of the last time he was in the city as he played two games at Goodison Park in the group stage of the 1966 World Cup.
He was roughed up by Bulgarian defenders in the opening game but they still couldn’t stop him scoring in a 2-0 win. He was rested for the loss to Hungary and the final group game against Portugal saw him limp off after a tackle from Morais as the Eusebio led side claimed a 3-1 win.
Let’s just hope he’s treated to some goals and not a 0-0 where Joe Allen or Marouane Fellaini are the stars of the show.
