It’s set to be a busy couple of transfer windows at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp seeks to stamp his identity on this Liverpool side.
But then when is it not a busy transfer window at Liverpool?
Klopp’s two principal midfield targets appear to be coming into focus, with papers in Italy and Germany identifying Lucas Biglia and Granit Xhaka as top of the club’s shopping list.
The Argentine holding midfielder Biglia, who impressed as the Roman club finished third in Serie A last season, would be available for £21m.
But according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, they would face strong competition from Real Madrid and Inter for the 29-year-old.
Biglia was made Lazio captain at the start of this season, but reports in Italy claim he is unhappy with his current contract at the club.
Liverpool are likely to be able to offer higher wages, though an improved deal may be enough to keep him in the Italian capital.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are also in the hunt for Borussia Mochengladbach’s Xhaka but Bild claim that Klopp will make a £19.6m (€30m) bid for the 23-year-old Swiss international in January.
