Third kits are never the most subtle of garments, and that’s certainly the case with Liverpool Football Club’s latest effort.
Fans of the Reds will be hoping not to get too closely acquainted with the club’s garish third kit choice for next season.
The bright orange effort will be great for those midweek January evening games when the snow is pelting down, if nothing else.
“The New Balance kit continues the design theme to mark LFC’s 125th anniversary year, incorporating the commemorative Liver bird crest, and will be worn by the players for the first time against Crystal Palace on Wednesday,” read a statement on the club’s official website.
Reds fans will hope, of course, that the new orange kit is an omen regarding the signing of Southampton’s Dutch international defender Virgil van Dijk.
A bit of a stretch, but it’s been a quiet summer on the red (or orange) side of the Mersey.
