Liverpool “Spice Boy” calls out Jamie Carragher for a fight, gets the Danny Simpson treatment

Taking no prisoners.

It’s safe to say that Jamie Redknapp’s challenge was accepted by Jamie Carragher.

On a week that saw Carragher fall out with one current Premier League footballer, a former teammate was dealt with in no uncertain terms by the legendary Liverpool defender.

Carragher is clearly in no humour for call-outs after his back-and-forth with Leicester right back Danny Simpson, who mocked Carragher for his lack of league titles.

Redknapp, who played with Carragher for six years at Anfield, issued a boxing challenge to his former teammate after a training session with heavyweight David Haye.

Ahead of Haye’s upcoming grudge match with Tony Bellew, he and his coach put Redknapp through his paces in the squared circle.

Redknapp clearly got some confidence from his training because, when asked which of his Sky Sports colleagues he’d like to fight, he uttered Carragher’s name.

“What do you reckon – because Jamie Carragher has been giving it a little bit,” said Redknapp.

“Like Neville, I’m not sure Gary could be a fighter. I wouldn’t want to fight Thierry because he’s got those eyes, that long reach.

“Souness? Not going anywhere near him. Mad Scotsman. Wouldn’t want to fight him.

“But Carra, we’d probably be on the same weight, he’s an aggressive Scouser – I think we’d have a good fight. Carra, you heard it here!”

Carragher responded to the challenge, made aware to him by a Daily Mirror tweet, by announcing that he’d see off both Redknapp and Simpson at the same time.

Carragher definitely doesn’t pull any punches!
