He sounds like a character from True Detective.
Joe Gomez joins Liverpool today from Charlton and besides having a cracking name, he comes with a lot of promise. He has played for England U19 and has been compared to former England international Rio Ferdinand due to his comfort on the ball.
Gomez will join Brendan Rodgers’ side for pre-season training but the BBC are reporting that he will then be loaned out, potentially to Derby.
Delighted to be joining @LFC … An amazing club with great players! A dream come true for me. Looking forward to the new challenge ⚽️

Liverpool’s defence has been leaking goals in the last two league campaigns (52 and 48 conceded) so the fans will be hoping that Gomez can eventually help shore up their rearguard.
He might not be ready to play for the Reds immediately, but at £3.5 million, he represents a modest investment.
