Just when you thought Roma were dead and buried Dejan Lovren and James Milner breathed new life into the hosts cause with a spectacular own goal.
A lofted ball towards the Liverpool back-post was steered back towards goal by Roma winger Stephan El Shaarawy before Lovren booted a clearance right into the face of Milner.
The ball rebounded off the Liverpool midfielder’s face and back towards the goal where it caught goalkeeper Loris Karius off guard.

I just asked Dejan Lovren if he was nervous about tonight's match. He said What do you think, James? I said I think you are.

The own goal meant that Roma would need to score three goals to advance after Sadio Mane opened the scoring for Liverpool after nine minutes, however, Gini Wijnaldum’s strike on the 25th minute mark means that Roma would need to score six goals to advance and five goals to bring the tie to extra-time.
If Liverpool advance they will face Real Madrid in the final after the two-time defending champions advanced past Bayern Munich 4-3 on aggregate in the other semi-final.
