Yeah, yeah – we’re well aware that this was ‘only a friendly‘…
We’re also aware that although Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez were in the opposition side, neither of them are defenders.
But all that said, we can still admire the quality of the goal that gave Liverpool the leas against Barcelona at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.
With just a quarter of an hour played of the International Champions Cup match, Adam Lallana robbed possession from Barca on the Liverpool right before bursting towards the Spanish champions’ penalty area.
Having played the ball to Roberto Firmino on the right hand side of the Barca box, Lallana continues his run through the middle, and is soon picked out by the Brazilian. With defenders in front of him, he slides the ball through to Sadio Mane who takes a touch to set himself before thrashing the ball high into the goal.

A goal that even Barcelona at their free-flowing best would be proud of.
This was Mane’s first goal for Liverpool since moving to the club from Southampton earlier in the summer for £34m. You can’t blame Liverpool fans from getting a little bit excited, although this was probably a little bit over the top…
Brilliant from Lallana in that goal, Mane makes it 1-0 vs Barcelona. Were gonna win the league, the olympics. We'll win everything. #LFC ⚽
