Liverpool are reportedly set to bid £52m for Real Madrid star

This would really be something

Liverpool have already caused a stir in the transfer market this summer.

Southampton reported the club for an illegal approach of  Virgil van Dijk and a move for Mohamed Salah looks imminent.

Yet, the latest transfer rumour is probably the most exciting yet.

As per the Express, the club are in the market for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez and are prepared to splash out £52m for the playmaker.

Rodriguez moved to Real Madrid back in 2014 after a starring role for Colombia in the World Cup but has struggled to break into the starting line up under Zinedine Zidane.

The attacking midfielder didn’t make the matchday squad for Saturday’s Champions League Final when Real Madrid won their third title in four years and it looks likely that he will depart this summer.

But a move may prove difficult for Liverpool as the player is reportedly interested in joining Manchester United and has a number of potential suitors including Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan.

Rodriguez is said to want to work under Jose Mourinho and if that doesn’t materialise a move to Bayern Munich is likely as he is a fan of Carlo Ancelotti.
