Liverpool players could hear Manchester United squad argue at half-time

So says Sakho

They could probably hear them celebrate at full-time too.

Mamadou Sakho has revealed that the Liverpool squad could hear the Manchester United players argue at half-time during their game at Anfield yesterday.

The away side won a game devoid of any real attacking quality 1-0, thanks to a late Wayne Rooney strike. Liverpool created more chances, but were caught out from a set-piece, again, and lost the game from United’s only shot on target.

Louis van Gaal’s side were so disjointed in the first-half, Sakho claims he could hear their players argue during the break. He also used a strange analogy to describe his team’s performance.LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND - JANUARY 17: Referee Mark Clattenburg talks to Marouane Fellaini of Manchester United after a clash with Lucas Leiva of Liverpool during the Barclays Premier League match between Liverpool and Manchester United at Anfield on January 17, 2016 in Liverpool, England. “United were lucky today and they know it. We could hear them shouting in dressing room at half-time,” Sakho reportedly told French TV channel Canal+.

“We ate them.”

If you say so, Mamadou.

The France international was one of Liverpool’s more impressive performers. Alongside Kolo Toure in the centre of defence he frustrated United’s stuttering attack, however Rooney’s second ever Anfield goal was enough for Van Gaal to train his sights on the title.

From internal strife to champions’ ambitions… what a difference 45 turgid minutes can make.
