Ker-ching
Liverpool’s struggle to hold onto Raheem Sterling has begun in earnest tonight, with reports that one of the club’s main Premier League rivals has tabled a bid for the player.
According to the Daily Mirror Manchester City have made a verbal offer of €40million for the player with some extra cash promised as an add-on.
City are the first club to have made any proper offer for the player, and understood to be keen to follow up their verbal discussion with a firm bid over the weekend.
Sterling has refused to sign a new contract at Anfield and the move by City may now ignite a bidding war with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Arsenal all interested
The winger still has two years left to run on his contract, but a bid of of closer to €50million will test the club’s resolve to hang onto a player who is not fully committed to the club at least in the short term.
