Liverpool fans point the finger at one man and one man only after shock Swansea defeat

Will there be defensive changes for the next game?

Liverpool had the perfect chance to get their title charge back on track today, with the fixture list throwing up a home meeting with the Premier League’s bottom club, Swansea City.

The Reds had been unbeaten at home all season, but that run was ended as a Fernando Llorente double and Gylfi Sigurdsson’s late winner gave Paul Clement’s team all three points in a 3-2 win.

After a flat first half, the visitors took a shock lead when Fernando Llorente fired home as Jürgen Klopp’s team failed to deal with a corner.

And Llorente made it two not long after, heading home after good work from new signings Tom Carroll and Martin Olsson.

Roberto Firmino scored twice himself to level things up, but lax defending let in Sigurdsson to beat Simon Mignolet and lift the Swans off the bottom of the Premier League table.

The set piece from which the first goal arrived came Swansea’s way thanks to a mistake from Dejan Lovren, and the Croatian bore the brunt of the criticism from Reds fans.

Some of the comments were more descriptive than others.

But the general mood was consistent.

Even bringing on the previously unbeaten Joel Matip wasn’t enough for Klopp’s men, who could find themselves hanging on to their top four place by a thread when the weekend is over.

There’s sure to be calls for Lovren to make way for the Reds’ next game, the EFL Cup second leg against Southampton in midweek.
