James Milner has only been on Twitter a matter of months
In the time since, he has used the social media platform to show off his sense of humour – a far cry from the ‘Boring Milner’ stereotype.
Towards the end of last season, only days after poking fun at Harry Kane’s successful goal appeal, Milner racked up plenty of retweets with his response to Liverpool’s newly launched home kit. Or – more specifically – one of the images used to promote it. At the time, the club tweeted an image of the new shirt being worn by Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.
Responding to this, Milner commented on how handsome the quintet were before pondering why he hadn’t been selected for modelling duties.
‘I must be doing the away kit,’ he added, much to the amusement of many of those that went on to share it.
Handsome bunch… no shame in not making cut… I must be doing the away kit 🤔 https://t.co/EEem9zGJCd

Now weeks on, Liverpool have released their new away kit. Designed by New Balance, the ‘deep violet’ shade was last seen on the club’s third shirt in 2012/13.
Again, Milner has been overlooked for modelling the strip in the official pictures shared by the club and again, Milner has taken to Twitter to note this.
Away from home.

Quoting the tweet he sent in response to the home kit release in April, Milner tweeted ‘Oh, maybe not,’ accompanied by a confused emoji.

He followed this with another tweet showing a picture of four of his teammates.

Maybe next season, eh James?
Liverpool will get an idea of how their Premier League campaign will shape up on Thursday with the English top flight set to publish their official fixture list for the 2018/19 campaign.
Jürgen Klopp has already added Fabinho from AS Monaco to his squad this summer and Naby Keita is also set to complete a move from RB Leipzig in July. Reports on Wednesday suggest he may have to reconsider his plans to bring in another goalkeeper with AS Roma seemingly pricing Liverpool out of a move for Brazil’s Alisson.
