Raheem Sterling left Liverpool to win trophies.
And ambition number one was achieved on Sunday afternoon as Manchester City secured the Capital One Cup title against the Reds.
Sterling had a mixed game against his former team-mates, and missed two reasonably easy chances to wrap up the game late on.
Ultimately the game was decided on penalties, and Sterling luckily didn’t have to take a penalty-kick against his former charges, which probably would have made a an incident after the game possibly even uglier.
Raheem Sterling should buy Willy Caballero a big drink tonight. His penalty heroics saved Sterling some very bad headlines tomorrow morning

Rest of this game just a prelude to Raheem Sterling's penalty in the shoot-out

Liverpool did collect £44million for his services last summer after a bitter transfer from Anfield.
However one fan got up close and personal with the England winger to tell him that he’s still angry with the manner of his transfer, only he wasn’t quite as polite as that.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Sterling was man-handled by a fan and called a “f**king Judas” before team-mate Kevin de Bruyne, and a security guard, intervened.
The incident took place in a Wembley hospitality lounge and an investigation is believed to be underway.
Sterling was booed during the entire game by Liverpool fans, but the player would reasonably expected to be kept away from angry fans at City’s celebrations.
