Liverpool face battle to sign weak-link’s possible long term replacement

Alberto Moreno, your time is up.

We’ll not quite yet, but one suspects that the Spaniard could be one of the first major casualties of Jurgen Klopp’s big German axe this summer.

The defender is decent going forward, but worse than useless at defending for the most part.

The club has lacked a proper defender in the role since the heyday of John Arne Riise but Klopp is determined to change that.

According to reports this morning in The Mirror, the club are hoping to tempt 15-year-old Fulham defender Ryan Sessegnon to Merseyside this summer.

The youth international is one of the most highly regarded players across the water at present, with coaches have likened him to a young Gareth Bale if you don’t mind.

Liverpool’s interest in the player comes after the Cottagers turned down a bid from Arsenal of approximately £3million last year.

Fulham is hoping they can hang on to the England U16s captain, but the club may be forced to cash in if the Reds and the Gunners enter a bidding war for his services.

The Liverpool management are desperate to enforce their rearguard on both flanks, with Jose Enrique likely to leave this summer, and Jon Flanagan the only proper back-up full-back within the squad at present with a future at the club.
