Liverpool fan Eamon Dunphy tells the team how they can improve

"They don't really know how to manage a game"

“They don’t really know how to manage a game.”

Liverpool are through to the final of the Champions League, where they will face Real Madrid. Jurgen Klopp’s side booked their place in the final on May 26 despite losing 4-2 to Roma on Wednesday night. The 5-2 win from last week’s first-leg at Anfield was enough to give Liverpool a 7-6 victory on aggregate.

It was a nervy night in the Italian capital. Liverpool failed to play with their usual attacking flair, but did enough to secure their spot in the Kiev showpiece later this month.

Dejan Lovren, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Loris Karius had games to forget, but Sadio Mane’s attacking play and a commanding performance from Virgil van Dijk kept Liverpool’s head above water.

On RTE, pundit and Liverpool fan Eamon Dunphy was happy that Klopp’s side had made it to the final, but he had some reservations about the team’s defence.

“I’m very happy that they are there,” Dunphy said, before listing his concerns ahead of the showdown with Cristiano Ronaldo and his Madrid teammates.

“You just need a goalkeeper, they don’t have one. You need two central defenders, they’ve only got one. To give four goals away to Roma, in those circumstances, and there could have been two penalties – they don’t really know how to manage a game.”
