Igor Biscan is one of those odd Liverpool footballers.

The Croatian midfielder was never the most skillful or graceful on the ball, but somehow he has found himself as a cult hero from his time at Anfield.

He did make some big impressions in the famous 2005 Champions League winning campaign, but was never exactly the most consistent footballer ever to grace the famous club jersey.

However, he retains a place in most Reds’ fans hearts

However disturbing news is emerging from his native Croatia this afternoon as the Liverpool Echo are reporting that the former midfielder has been found guilty of attacking a taxi driver and given a three month suspended jail term.

It was alleged in court that the now 37-year-old had headbutted a taxi driver after a dispute began when two men tried to tow away the footballer’s Mini Cooper which had been parked in a taxi rank five years ago in Zagreb.

It was alleged that Biscan exchanged strong words with the taxi driver before headbutting and punching him.

Twice previously Biscan had been found not guilty of the assault on the grounds of self defence, but was convicted by a High Court in Croatia in July and received his sentence in the last few days.

He was given a three-month suspended jail term for the attack that took place in January 2010 and ordered to pay compensation to the injured party.
