Liverpool could have a particularly tough start to the season if this forecast is to be believed

Has anyone cleaned Opta's crystal ball?

When the new Premier League fixtures come out there’s always at least one club that feels hard done by.

This year it’s the turn of Liverpool to feel that got the hard end of the fixture computer’s stick.

Not that anyone from the club made any official comment, but ex-players such as Jamie Carragher have had a little moan.

The principal gripe seems to be Liverpool’s first seven away fixtures, which will see Brendan Rodgers take his side to Stoke, Arsenal, Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Never mind that their first seven home games are eminently winnable, this is a daunting start for Rodgers, whose job could well be on the line if the club look like they’re not going to challenge for a top four place.

Now the good folks at Opta have forecasted how the Premier League table will look after 10 games if the results match those of last season.

They won’t, obviously, that’s the point of having different seasons but even still it’s not the most optimistic reading for Liverpool fans.
