The knock Joe Gomez picked up while on international duty for England U21s may have ended his season early.
According to the Times, the 18-year-old has been sent for scan amid fears that he suffered an ACL injury.
Gomez was withdrawn during the 2-1 win over Kazakhstan, but manager Gareth Southgate played down the injury. After the match, Southgate said he was “hopeful it’s nothing too serious”.
However, if the it turns out to be the ACL injury they suspect, the youngster could face up to nine months on the sidelines, which means he season would be over.
With the arrival of Jurgen Klopp lifting the spirits around Anfield, the news that Gomez, who started the first five Premier League games of the season, may be ruled out for the rest of the campaign will undoubtedly lower morale.
