Liverpool confirm Steven Gerrard will line out for club again – in Australia

The former club captain will feature for Legends side

From LA to Down Under Steven Gerrard is surely clocking up the air-miles.

The former Liverpool club captain didn’t enjoy the best of times on the American west coast as he couldn’t prevent the 2014 champions LA Galaxy missing out on the MLS play-offs.

There was fervent speculation that the ex-England captain might rejoin Liverpool in the wintertime, while on his break from LA Galaxy duties, but the rumour was scorched by Jurgen Klopp early in his reign.

Last week Gerrard was told he could train at Melwood to keep his fitness up but its seemed that any fairytale return would not happen.

Until this evening that is, when the club confirmed that Gerrard will line out for in Liverpool red once again, but for a Legends side playing in next year.

The Reds have confirmed the former captain will join his ex-colleague Jamie Carragher as well as Ian Rush in the squad for the game against an Australian Legends side on January 7, next year.

Gerrard will line put for the team which will be managed by Gerard Houllier and it will be his first time playing with a Liver bird on his chest since leaving the club last summer to join n LA Galaxy.
