Pep Guardiola's Man City side had similar goalkeeper problems last season but have improved immeasurably since the arrival of Ederson.
Klopp has realised that Liverpool need a new goalkeeper and has begun his quest for a new no.1 with a bid for AS Roma's Alisson, according to The Mirror's report which cites Italian outlet Il Tiempo.
Roma rejected the bid, telling Liverpool that if they are to prise the Brazilian international away from the Italian capital, it will cost them £44m and that they want to hold on to the goalkeeper until the end of the season at least.
In this inflated transfer market, it is arguable that such a fee actually represents decent value. A new man between the sticks has to be considered a top priority for Liverpool now and Alisson is only 25 years old.Explore more on these topics:
