If this was an intentional dig at Super Mario, it is incredibly harsh.
What appeared to be a rather innocuous tweet from the official Liverpool account, might just be a pop at one of their recent flops.
The tweet described how Adam Lallana was looking forward to linking up with the “world-class” talent that didn’t go on tour with the team, with an accompanying photograph of Emre Can, Coutinho and Christian Benteke in training.

However, the original photograph also included Mario Balotelli at the ground alongside the players. With this in mind, it’s very difficult to argue against the Italian forward being intentionally excluded from the tweet.

Although Balotelli has failed to live up to his £16 million transfer fee, even this seems a tad harsh.
