LISTEN: Sunderland fan’s prank call to Newcastle club shop will brighten your day

Unless you're a Magpies fan

Darragh Murphy

What’s a derby rivalry if you can’t kick someone when they’re down?

Newcastle are down, quite literally, as they will be plying their trade in the Championship next season and they’re going to find precisely zero sympathy with their noisy neighbours Sunderland, who stayed up at their expense.

Barring being drawn together in a cup competition, there’ll be no Tyne-Wear derby next season and fans of the Black Cats couldn’t be happier at Newcastle’s misfortune.

One supporter can’t help himself from celebrating all the way into late May as he took it upon himself to give Newcastle’s club shop a call to enquire about the possibility of getting a jersey for his kid, with his name on the back and the Premier League badge on the sleeve.

The sheer joy he gleans from the saleswoman explaining how the team would be playing in the Championship next season will make your day… unless you support Newcastle.
