Messi is close to signing a new 10-year deal
Lionel Messi – despite all that went on last summer – looks set to prolong his stay at Barcelona, reports in Spain have claimed.
The Barca number 10 made his feelings about the way in which the club had been run under the presidency of Josep Bartomeu abundantly clear last year and looked near certain to leave the Camp Nou for Manchester City.
The move failed to materialise and, with Bartomeu now gone from the club, Messi is reportedly close to ending all speculation about his future by inking an extension to his contract.
According to Sport, Messi will spend a further two seasons playing for Barca before moving to Miami, and David Beckham’s Inter Miami MLS franchise.

The Argentine is expected to spend two seasons in Miami before returning to Barca in a new, wide-ranging, global ambassadorial role.
The new deal will span ten years and , understandably, given the majority of it will be in a non-playing capacity, will see Messi take home a significantly reduced salary than the one he is currently signed up for.
As well as City – and a possible reunion with Pep Guardiola – the 33-year-old has also been strongly linked with Paris Saint-Germain over the last 12 months. The dethroned Ligue 1 champions had even reportedly briefed staff working in their official stores to prepare for his arrival.
