Leigh Griffiths scores and pays touching tribute to teenage Celtic fan who passed away last week

Some things are more important than sport.

So when Leigh Griffiths opened the scoring during Celtic’s 4-1 home victory over Aberdeen on Saturday afternoon, he decided to dedicate his goal to a young Celtic fan who recently passed away.

Hoops supporter Kieran McDade suffered a cardiac arrest on the pitch while training with Dunbeth Football Club last week.

The 13-year-old passed away in hospital but he will live long in the memory of all those involved with Celtic, the club he followed passionately.

Coincidentally, Celtic had organised a minute’s applause to take place in the 13th minute, which is just when Griffiths found the net.

And the striker was quick to honour the memory of young Kieran by celebrating his opener with a jersey with ‘RIP Kieran 13’ on the back.

It truly was a beautiful gesture and one that we’re sure will go a long way with his family.
