Odds for Leicester City to get relegated next season are stupidly short

Plenty has been made of Leicester City’s unlikely title run and their 5,000/1 pre-season odds.

Claudio Ranieri’s men are approaching squeaky-bum time after West Ham ended their run of five wins and five clean sheets.

They remain five points clear with four games remaining, making them odds-on favourites even if Jamie Vardy ends up missing more than one of their remaining fixtures.

But what of next season?

The Foxes are 40/1 to win the league in 2016/17, according to some outlets, though it remains to be seen whether or not they’d be retaining their title or pushing for their first.

In fact, they’re considered more likely to get relegated next season (28/1) than they are to finish first.

Vardy, meanwhile, is 16/1 to win next season’s Premier League golden boot, after 22 goals this time around have him hot on the heels of Harry Kane. In case you were wondering, the former Fleetwood Town man was 250/1 to achieve the feat on the eve of the 2015/16 season.
