Leeds fans have been lashing out at a former Irish international on Twitter

Noel Hunt has had a busy morning...

Noel Hunt is currently without a club, but we doubt he’ll be returning to Leeds United.

The former Republic of Ireland striker has come in for heavy criticism from some Leeds fans after wishing Lewis Cook well on his move from the Championship side to Bournemouth for £6m.

Cook had been with Leeds since he was a child, and is regarded as one of the brightest prospects in English football, so it’s no wonder fans of the long-suffering club aren’t happy to lose the 19-year-old.

Many took their frustrations out on the former Ireland striker. Hunt failed to score in his 20 appearances for the Elland Road club, and the fans were quick to remind him.

Hunt didn’t back down, and made a number of valid points.

But reason had long left the argument, Hunt had come to embody all the ills of Leeds’ years in the wilderness.

Even those that agreed with Hunt found it hard not to have a dig.
