St. Patrick’s Athletic defender Lee Desmond scored a remarkable first goal for the club during the Saints 1-1 draw with Derry City on Friday night.
Barry McNamee opened the scoring for Derry after just 10 minutes before Desmond equalised with a superb strike from outside of the box with the draw keeping City inside the top half of the table.
It took him a while to score his first ever goal for the Super Saints, but it was well worth the wait! Top stuff from Lee Desmond against Derry City, @SoccRepublic @FAIreland @SSEAirtricityLg #Saints2019 🔴⚪️⚽️ pic.twitter.com/pKJqtveyB2

The draw with Pats extends Derry’s winless streak to three games but club manager Declan Devine revealed some positive news in that forward Michael McCrudden will start his road to recovery.
“On the team front, only Michael McCrudden is a long-term absentee, but he got good news from the specialist this week. His cast is now off and he will start back into a training schedule over the coming days and although it will take time, it is great for us to have him on the road to recovery.”
