“Orange and purple moon!” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
Manchester City have gone down an interesting route with the colour scheme for the third kit that we’ll be lucky to see on the field any more than zero times.
Third kits, no more than a means to an extra few quid in the pockets of a football club, tend to be a little bit more adventurous than their home and away iterations.
And City’s decision to release an orange and purple strip is no exception to that tradition.
Football kit website FootyHeadlines.com obtained leaked images of the kit and published them on Thursday.
The largely orange midriff fades into a purple, known as ‘Persian Violet’, and the shorts for the kit will also be purple.
It will be the first time in eight years that City have had an orange kit. And my God, didn’t Richard Dunne wear the shit out of it back then?
