It’s groundhog day.
Kylian Mbappé wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain (again) and has been linked with making a move to Real Madrid (again).
Mbappé looked set to join Los Blancos last season after revealing that his relationship with PSG was “completely broken” but in a dramatic U-turn, opted to sign a new three-year deal with the French side.
But now The Sun have suggested that the 23-year-old is now wanting to leave the Parc des Princes once more, days after their Champions League round of 16 first leg defeat to Bayern Munich.
However The Athletic have reported that Madrid aren’t giving up their pursuit of the forward and are interested in signing him with a view to finding a long-term replacement for Karim Benzema.
The France international can leave PSG next summer (2024) for free if he chooses not to activate the optional one-year extension clause in his contract.
Although he isn’t expected to leave this summer, Madrid are closely watching the developments surrounding Mbappé and want to be ready to pounce when the opportunity arrises.
Should they fail to bring Mbappé to the Bernabeu, the LaLiga side have other targets in mind. Erling Haaland of Manchester City is alleged to be one of them, but Madrid are aware that it would have to be an astronomical amount of money for Man City to even consider.
