Kylian Mbappé and his family have emerged as potential buyers of a football club which could see the French footballer because one of the first ever players to do so while still playing.
The Mbappé family are looking at buying Ligue 2 side SM Caen after previous American co-owners Oaktree pulled out of the club including their investment.
The has left the northern French club looking investors, ultimately interesting the likes of French superstar Kylian Mbappé and his family according to French news outlet Ouest France.
Meanwhile rumour has suggested that popular French rapper Orelsan could also be in line to invest in the club making for a potential superstar line up.
Oaktree had come to the Ligue 2 team’s rescue in 2020, however have seen pulled out of the club.
Speaking to Ouest France, SM Caen’s co-owner, Pierre-Antoine Capton, admits that it was not the plan for the club that Oaktree would leave.
He said: “Like any investment fund, the challenge for them was to recover the money they had invested.
“Oaktree arrived at a time when the club was close to filing for bankruptcy.”

He added: “I did not intend to buy back 100% of the shares in Caen.”
Capton dropped hints for the return of outisde investment after the departure of Oakwood saying.
He said: “To find other partners to ensure the sustainability of the club and build an ambitious project, respecting the DNA of what Caen is.”
If Kylian Mbappé did buy Caen then he would become a member of a very elite group of footballers to buy clubs while still playing.
Last year fellow French star N’Golo Kanté bought Belgium third division side Royal Excelsior Virton.
However, Mbappé would become the first ever player to buy a top five nation club while still playing.
