Since joining from Wolfsburg over the summer, Kevin de Bruyne has been arguably Manchester City’s most important player this season.
The Belgian midfielder has been the main playmaker at the Etihad, with City’s slump in form in February and March coinciding with the former Chelsea man sustaining an injury to his right knee.
But not even his influence over City’s play this season has been good enough to earn him a spot in his own ultimate five-a-side team, which features five of the best players he’s ever played with.
Three City players are included, with Joe Hart between the sticks, Vincent Kompany guarding defence and Sergio Aguero leading the line. But it is in midfield where his choices get interesting.
Of all the players he has featured alongside, De Bruyne opts for “best five-a-side player in the world” – Tottenham’s Mousa Dembele (not to be confused with Tottenham target Moussa Demebele) – as well as Wolfsburg’s Luiz Gustavo, who will be “up your ass for 90 minutes”.
