He’s probably sulking about that too
Karim Benzema has said that Cristiano Ronaldo is yet to congratulate him on winning the Ballon d’Or.
Benzema won the award for the first time in his career last month while Ronaldo could only settle for 20th place.
However despite receiving widespread praise for finally collecting football’s biggest individual prize, the Frenchman has revealed he is yet to receive a message from his former Real Madrid teammate.
While appearing on French TV, the presenter asked: “Cristiano Ronaldo, did he send you a nice little message after your Ballon d’Or?”
Benzema then replied: “No, I haven’t had it yet.”
En vrai c’est pas bien pour Benzema il a fait presque toute sa carrière avec Cristiano Ronaldo et il reçoit même pas un p’tit msg mskn pic.twitter.com/s2qAqD4jHS

While the initial Karim Benzema comments did gain some traction, seen in the light of Ronaldo’s Manchester United “betrayal” interview, it makes more sense now.
That Ronaldo interview with Piers Morgan proves the man in focused on himself, and his achievements, rather than his team and the players he works with every day.
The two played together for nine seasons as Madrid dominated both Spanish and European football. During that time Ronaldo also won four Ballon d’Or’s as Benzema was pivotal in helping him score so many goals.
Los Blancos’ number nine has also seen several other of his teammates go on to win the award before finally getting his recognition this year.
The forward isn’t expected to be a doubt for the World Cup after he missed the last few games with Real Madrid with nothing more than ‘niggles’ as he prepares to defend France’s World Cup crown.
“I had a few minor niggles, nothing serious,” he told Amazon Prime.
“There’s still time between now and 22 November [France’s World Cup opener against Australia]. I’ll be in good shape, physically and mentally ready.
“It’s magnificent. Thanks to my club Real Madrid, who allowed me to make my dream come true, and to Lyon, my team when I was growing up. It’s my city. To see all these people and the fans is extraordinary.
“Every match will be a final. We have a very good group, we’re going to take it match by match.”
