Juventus legend Gianluigi Buffon set yet another Serie A record today

A rock

Gareth Makim

Has he not got enough records?

He couldn’t keep out Bayern Munich as the Old Lady of Turin crashed out of the Champions League during the week, but Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon remains nigh-on unbeatable in Serie A.

Not content with already holding the records for most Italy caps and most clean sheets in Serie A, the world’s most expensive goalkeeper (still!) created another piece of history in this afternoon’s derby against Torino.

Buffon needed to go just four minutes without conceding to set a new mark of 930 minutes, or almost 10 and a half games, without being breached, a mark previously set by Milan great Sebastiano Rossi in 1994.

Another clean sheet would have extended the record past 1,000 minutes, but Buffon was finally beaten by a penalty from Andrea Bellotti early in the second half, with the new mark set at 974 minutes.

What a legend.
