Prosecutor Kate Blackwell QC said the pictures, downloaded from Johnson's iPhone, were a "series of images of the defendant himself and one separate photograph of his groin area".
The court in Bradford also heard Johnson was "shaky" on the night of his arrest at his home in Durham.
Detective Constable Kimberley Walton, of Durham Police, said she took the footballer to a games room in his house to arrest him, while his partner Stacey Flounders sat on the stairs.
When asked by Flounders who the girl was, Johnson said he "just gave her a couple of shirts".
The officer told the jury: "At the time of the caution and arrest of Adam Johnson he was stood by a bar area.
"He had to hold on to it and he became a little bit shaky."
Johnson then asked to speak to Ms Flounders.
Det Con Walton agreed that Flounders asked: "Who is she?"
The officer agreed that he replied: "It's (the girl's name). I just gave her a couple of shirts."
The court heard that Miss Flounders said: "How old is she?"
And Johnson replied: "Well, she said she was 16."
The trial continues.
