It sounds like a done deal.

Liverpool look set to tie up the signing of Serbia Under-21 star Marko Grujic with reports that the midfielder is heading to Merseyside to complete a pre-Christmas medical, having already agreed a five-year contract with the Reds.

The Red Star Belgrade youngster – still only 19 – is already a winner at international level having won the Under-20 World Cup last summer, and Jurgen Klopp looks to have staved off late interest from Inter Milan to make his first signing since taking over at Anfield.

However, while Grujic is set to register with Liverpool when the January transfer window opens, he will not play for his new club until next season, under the terms of the deal which are being reported by the Liverpool Echo.

Liverpool will pay €7million to Red Star, who will then return €1million of that fee to keep Grujic in Belgrade for the remainder of the season as they chase another Serbian championship.

Red Star will also benefit from a ten per cent sell-on fee should Grujic move on from Liverpool.
