The first setback for Klopp’s revolution?
Everything has been ticking along nicely at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp. Last Saturday’s 3-1 win at Chelsea was the result and the performance that Liverpool’s players had been threatening as the German’s methods, specifically a high pressing and fast-paced game, gradually take hold at Anfield.
Klopp has been assisted during his time at Liverpool by Zeljko Buvak and Peter Krawietz, coaches that were also by his side at Borussia Dortmund and understand intuitively how he wants his side to play.
However it appears that another loyal member of Klopp’s backroom team from those successful years in Dortmund has turned down the chance the join his red revolution, preferring instead to take the manager’s job at… Huddersfield Town.
Former USA international David Wagner left Dortmund this week and, according to Telegraph Sport, Liverpool were hopeful of adding him to the coaching staff.
The fact that he was Klopp’s Best Man at his wedding would have suggested that it was a sure thing, but instead Wagner has decided that a manager’s role – albeit one at the 18th placed club in the Championship – was too good an opportunity to turn down.
Wagner replaces former Charlton defender Chris Powell at Huddersfield.
