Jurgen Klopp ready to sign long term Manchester United target to solve midfield malaise

Well it can't get much worse surely

Who ever thought Liverpool would miss Dejan Lovren so much.

The Croat was injured in last Sunday’s 2-2 draw with West Brom and in his absence, Liverpool conceded three yesterday to Watford.

It was their worst loss of the campaign under Jurgen Klopp and sees the Merseyside outfit lose further ground in the race for the top four.
Martin Skrtel’s injury in yesterday’s game saw Klopp send defensive midfielder Lucas to partner Mamadou Sakho at the heart of the defence, as Liverpool’s midfield lacked any sort of shape or dynamic presence apart from Jordan Henderson.

But it seems that midfield is one of the key areas the Liverpool is looking to bolster and they may have been given a major boost with news coming out of Italy today.

Ilkay Gundogan has been a long term target of Manchester United, but due to his relationship with Jurgen Klopp he is seen as a possible January transfer for the Reds.

According to the Daily Mirror Juventus have cooled their interest in the player, with Bianconeri director Beppe Marotta admitting his club will not be making any major additions to their squad in the January window.

“The January transfer window is one for reparation and we do not need to repair anything. In January the moves are not always advantageous for clubs, even if we remain vigilant for any interesting opportunities. Gundogan and Banega? I can rule out a move for them and the same goes for Lavezzi.”
