“I really think you should prepare your job a little bit better…”
Oof. Jurgen. We get that you’re a bit upset at the way in which your team’s title defence is unravelling, but come on. Is there any need for this?
After watching his side lose 4-1 at home to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon – the first time Liverpool have lost three home league games on the spin in 20,966 days – Jurgen Klopp will understandably have not been in the best of moods.
The result pretty much ended their hopes of a credible title challenge, and facing the media was almost certainly a long, looooong way down the list of things he’d like to have been doing.
Not for the first time this season, Klopp appeared close to losing his cool in one of his post-match interview when asked – perfectly reasonably, by Niv Dovrat of Israel’s Sport 1 – if there was any realistic chance of Liverpool closing the widening gap between them and City.
“I really think you should prepare your job a little bit better, to be honest,” Klopp said. “They’re 13 points away, in my understanding and there’s questions about becoming champions.
“Do you really think that’s an appropriate question in the moment? You have only two questions and you waste one for that.”
Despite the reporters attempts to explain the wider context of his question, Klopp continued:
“Your fault,” he said, repeatedly saying that the reporter had only two questions. “You wasted it.”
Asked if the focus was now on ensuring a top four finish, the German responded: “Yeah, that’s obvious. We’ll try to do that.”
הרבה דברים @nivdovrat הספיק לעשות במהלך הקריירה שלו – ואחד הדברים שהוא הכניס לרשימה (פעמיים!) זה לעצבן את יורגן קלופ. אבל ממש.

Ouch. All a bit… unnecessary, really.
Liverpool sit fourth after the defeat, ten points behind City, who could extend their lead to 13 if they win the game they have in hand.
