Jurgen Klopp has his say on Anfield ticket protest and his operation

He was always going to be asked

It was bound to come up.

Jurgen Klopp was always going to be asked about the protest at Anfield last Saturday.

Thousands of Liverpool fans exited the stadium in the 77th minute, protesting about the planned ticket price scheme for next season, with some tickets set to cost £77, and some season tickets over £1,000.

Klopp missed Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Sunderland after being taken to hospital with appendicitis, but was fit enough to attend today’s press conference ahead of Liverpool’s trip to West Ham in the FA Cup.

However, he refused to be drawn too much on the subject of the protests, as he was not in attendance at the game, but said the club is “speaking to find a solution.”GettyImages-508742660 (1)“It’s not too easy for me to say much because I wasn’t there,” the 48 year old said.

“I know it is my problem too but everything I could say would make it more complicated. I have to collect more information because the club is speaking to find a solution.”

“It is not what we want for fans to leave the stadium before the match is finished.”

Klopp also spoke about his operation, and insisted he’s “fit and healthy”.

“I feel good. A lot of people have had this before. I had one not too good night but I feel good.”

“Our doc said I should go to hospital, I was not too sure, but the surgeon was great – and he was a season ticket holder, so missed the game too.”

“I am fit and healthy otherwise I wouldn’t be here.”

Back in action a few days after surgery, if we were being harsh we’d say Daniel Sturridge could learn a thing or two from his manager.
