“I’m not sure if you played football.”
Former Man City player Nedum Onuoha and his ESPN colleagues were in stitches when it was clear that Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp didn’t recognise him.
The German native questioned the interviewers knowledge of the game after he had asked him a question and responded by saying: “I’m not sure if you played football…”.
The interview was conducted after Liverpool drew 2-2 with Wolves in the FA Cup. This means that the game will have to go to a replay, something that Klopp doesn’t want.
The Anfield hero has been critical in recent weeks about the scheduling of games, and how fixtures are so close together.
Klopp has a long list of injuries at the moment, and he does not want any reason to add to that list which include the likes of Luis Diaz, and Diogo Jota and most recently Virgil van Dijk.
‘If he was in a good mood I probably would have said something back,’ he said on ESPNFC.
‘But he wasn’t in a good mood at all. And I thought for my first time interviewing someone so significant in world football, if I bit back it might just turn into some sort of argument.’
Onuoha played for Manchester City from 2004 right up until 2012, and was actually in the QPR side that lost to City on the last game of the season to give them the title, thanks to that legendary Sergio Aguero goal.

Although maybe not the most famous name, the full back did have a solid Premier League career, playing at the top flight for most of his career.
Klopp’s mood doesn’t look like it will be getting any better as his side currently sit outside the Champion’s League places, and games are coming thick and fast.
