Jurgen Klopp’s comments on a young Brazilian the Premier League has never seen should excite any Liverpool fan.
The German is only a few months at Anfield, and while he may not have known that Tiago Ilori was a Liverpool player when he arrived, he certainly has high hopes for Allan.
The 19-year-old was one of Brendan Rodgers’ last signings as Liverpool manager, and was farmed out to two clubs on loan to gain some much-needed experience while he waited for a work permit for the UK.
He won a league title with SJK in Finland and Klopp admits he is desperate for the player to mature so he can be brought into the club’s first-team squad.
He told LiverpoolFC.com that the young attacker is an enormously exciting prospect and when Allan returned to train with Liverpool in December, Klopp was very impressed.
“I saw him in training and I thought ‘oh my God, what can we do to keep this boy here and bring him into the line-up?’ He’s 19 years old, an outstanding talent, a good player with a good attitude, everybody loves him, he’s a nice lad – so that’s really, really good. He’s a smart player.
Allan has recently been called up the Brazil U20 squad and Klopp is hoping the teenager can make a major impact on the first-team.
“Now for the first time he has got an invitation for the national under-20s team, and that’s great. It’s really deserved because he’s an outstanding talent. Everybody has seen him, but it’s not too easy to have a lot of pictures of him because most of the time he has played in other countries.
“We hope we can find a solution in the future because he will be a fixed part of the squad in the future, for sure. Now he uses this time to improve and the next step to the under-20s national team of Brazil is a great story.”
He sounds even more talented than the ‘next Zidane’ Bruno Cheyrou.
Let’s hope he can live up to the hype.
