Jose Mourinho uses Premier League triumph as opportunity to have a sly dig at Pep Guardiola

Let it go, Jose

Ben Kiely

The Special One couldn’t help but have a pop at Pep after Chelsea claimed the 2014/15 Premier League title.

Apparently, Mourinho still harbours some bitterness towards the Munich manager from their days in La Liga.

Guardiola’s record managing Barcelona was considerably better than Mourinho’s Madrid. The Spaniard guided the Catalans to three league titles, two Copa Del Reys and two Champions League trophies. Mourinho could “only” manage one La Liga title and a solitary cup triumph during his tenure with Los Blancos.

Both managers have since parted ways from the Spanish top flight, with Guardiola taking charge of Bayern Munich in Januuary 2013. Pep has had great success with Bayern and has claimed his second consecutive Bundesliga title with the German side this year.

During Chelsea’s post-match press conference today, Mourinho expressed his delight at Chelsea winning the Premier League, while simultaneously downplaying Guardiola’s achievements.

It seems that Mourinho can’t hack forever being in Pep’s shadow.
