Jose Mourinho returned to say goodbye to his former players today but not everybody showed up

The most successful manager ever to sit in the hotseat at Stamford Bridge was sacked for the second time by Roman Abramovich on Thursday afternoon after a disastrous start to the defence of their Premier League crown. Mourinho left the Cobham training ground on Thursday night having been let go hours after the club's Christmas lunch. But today, according to the Daily Mail, Mourinho returned to the club to speak to his former squad one last time. Unfortunately, some players did not bother to show their faces for their ex-boss, highlighting the deep divide in the squad since John Terry lifted the Premier League trophy just over six months ago. Mourinho is reported to have told the players that they were still winners and reminded them of their successes in the Premier League and Capital One Cup last term. The Portuguese also thanked the players present for their support and wished them the best for the remaining months of the season. Mourinho spoke to the players after training was taken by assistant Steve Holland and afterwards he cleared out his office, where he folded up a special cardboard cut out of himself as well as collecting a mug with 'the Special One' written across it. It's understood that Mourinho's sacking had been in the offing for weeks with talks between both parties finally concluding on Thursday morning. Guus Hiddink is expected to be be announced as his interim replacement this weekend.
