Jose Mourinho puts Rafa Benitez’ wife in her place with stinging rebuke

Was always bound to draw a response

Tuesday was Montserrat Seara’s time to shine. Today, Jose Mourinho hit back.

Rafa Benitez’ wife aired her opinion about the Chelsea manager, this week, in a Spanish newspaper feature and claimed her husband would be clearing up his mess for the third time.

The Real Madrid manager has tread a similar path to Mourinho – taking over at Chelsea and Inter Milan not long after Mournho, who also managed Los Blancos.

Mourinho was asked about the comments following his side’s pre-season win, on penalties, over Barcelona.

‘The lady is a bit confused, with all respect,’ he told reporters, before breaking into a smile.

‘I’m not laughing, because her husband went to Chelsea to replace Roberto Di Matteo and he went to Real Madrid and replaced Carlo Ancelotti.

‘The only club where her husband replaces me was at Inter Milan, where in six months he destroyed the best team in Europe at the time.’

Mourinho’s next comment was below the belt and insulting to both Benitez and his wife.

‘For her, also, to think about me and to speak about me,’ he remarked, ‘I think the lady needs to occupy her time and if she takes care of her husband’s diet she will have less time to speak about me.’

Benitez and Mourinho have been rivals since the Spaniard’s Liverpool and the Portuguese’ Chelsea first clashed in the Premier League, over a decade ago.
