It’s been hard to escape Jose Mourinho this week
The Chelsea coach has been everywhere as the fallout from his decision to publicly take on his medical team following last week’s draw with Swansea and then subsequently demote Eva Carneiro and John Fearn from first-team duties.
On Newstalk’s Paper Review, Mario Rosenstock recalled his experience of time spent in Mourinho’s company during the Portuguese coach’s first spell as Chelsea coach.
At the time Ireland had no manager (Steve Staunton would eventually replace Brian Kerr) and Mourinho asked Rosenstock who he would like to see get the job.
Rosenstock replied that he’d like Mourinho take it, a cheeky suggestion that was quickly rebuffed with a ‘maybe later’ by the Chelsea boss.
The question was turned back on Mourinho who said he thought Roy Keane would be perfect for the job.
Rosenstock asked why?
“Because he’s invincible,” said Mourinho.
It’s hard to argue with that, though we’d be eager to know if he still feels the same.
This was just one of a number of great tales Rosenstock told about his time with Mourinho. It’s well worth a listen.
