Jose Mourinho to be investigated by FA following win over Newcastle

The ‘man hunt’ continues

Jose Mourinho remains in charge of Manchester United, despite the rumours which circulated on Friday.

It was claimed Mourinho would be dismissed as United boss irrespective of his team’s result at home to Newcastle United on Saturday evening. After surrendering two early goals at Old Trafford, United fought back to win the game – goals from Juan Mata and Anthony Martial drawing them level before Alexis Sanchez ended his own goal drought with a stoppage time winner.

It’s now emerged that Mourinho will now be investigated by the Football Association for comments he made to a camera seconds after the full-time whistle.

The 55-year-old made the comments in Portuguese as he made his way back to the dressing room. They have since been interpreted by some as being offensive, with the FA now seeking an official translation before making a decision on what course of action – if any – to take against him.

United head into the international break in eighth following the win over Newcastle. When their players return, they will face a trip to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea – Mourinho’s former club.

The United boss has reportedly responded to his side’s poor start to the new season by requesting two new defenders after summer moves for the likes of Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Jerome Boateng failed to materialise.
